On the other hand, the electric drive provides another generous 143 hp and a torque of 300 Nm. This system is located at the front, and keeps the thermal drive off when the vehicle is stationary.

As long as the starter does not force too much on the accelerator, the vehicle only uses the electric motor. When speed increases, the increased need for power activates the heat engine, and the electrical system recharges its batteries.

This is achieved by reversing the operation of the electric motor, which began to function as a generator of electricity. The hybrid system thus adapts to the needs of driving, displaying high efficiency.

In this way, the RC reaches a maximum speed of 190 km / h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.6 seconds. Of course, achieving maximum acceleration is not linked to a more efficient use of the hybrid system. Even so, the approved consumption for the vehicle is between 4.9 and 5.0 liters per 100 km.

Lexus RC prices

All the efficiency of this hybrid, as well as its attractive design, is available on the market for 45,900 euros for the Executive version , which is the most economical. The basic price is already somewhat high, and grows as you go to higher trim versions. The F Sport variant goes up to 54,600 euros, and the Luxury comes to 58,200 euros. As an option with higher performance is the F range, which almost doubles the power of the standard RC, but at the cost of high consumption.
