What to check before passing the ITV

Lights

They must shine in the same way, have a correct position for safe lighting and that does not harm other drivers, and of course, they must all work.
One piece of advice we can give you so that this matter is in order is that if you need to change the bulb of a headlight, for example, do it with the other one, even if it works. The price of this is ridiculous and the problem is that the new one will shine more than the old one that continues to work and you could blind someone. Or at the very least, not pass the ITV.
Wiper blades
This can be easily forgotten, especially if we live in a place where rainfall is very scarce. But it is an important matter, since in the ITV they take into account above all the safety that your car gives you when driving.
If suddenly a heavy rain comes and the brushes are in bad condition, you could have an accident. So, if you are not very sure that they are in conditions, better change them before going to pass the ITV, because the hard one is around 10 euros and you will avoid nerves. They will also look for water in the windshield washer reservoir.
Oil and water
The levels must be fine, the oil has to be in good condition and you must make sure that there are no leaks from one or the other anywhere.
Other pieces that will look at you
The steering, the brakes, the suspension, the shock absorbers, the ball joints. .. All this is seen when the car passes through the rollers and they give it those rattles that you surely do not like at all.
The tires
Make sure they have the required air, that they are not worn or torn. Its measurements must be those accepted for the vehicle, and if they are greater, you must present the homologation certificate. Otherwise, you will have to pass the ITV again.
The gases
This is a common problem especially in diesel cars as soot is stored in the exhaust pipe. One trick you can do is take a road trip before ITV, speeding up the gears to make it go away.
Although the best and most practical thing is to add an additive to your fuel for a few months before the ITV, as it will reduce the percentage of gases.
