The Kia Picanto is a passenger car belonging to segment A, and manufactured by the company Kia Motors. It was presented to the public at the FrankFurt motor show in 2003. Its rivals include cars such as Chevrolet Spark, Hyundai i10, Toyota Aygo, Suzuki Celerio or the Fiat Panda.

It is a five-door car with room for four occupants. It is characterized by having a spacious interior and by the attractive quality of its finishes; its trunk has a capacity of 157 liters.

The second generation was presented at the Geneva motor show in 2011. This model has five doors and five seats, and a three-door variant only for sale in Europe.

This model came quite equipped compared to its predecessor and includes elements such as: keyless access, knee airbags, heated steering wheel, stop system and automatic engine start.

The current Kia Picanto

It was presented at the Geneva motor show in March 2017. It shows a new sporty-looking design and has a range of 11 different colors to customize the body; it totally changes its front part, with an elongated grille with elongated headlights that reach the sides of the car.

The new sporty trim features new bumpers, dual exhaust exhaust and new 15-inch wheels. Its front face features the Tiger Nose grill , already a classic Kia feature. Its headlights are long and pointed and there are also extra optics at the ends of the bumper grill.

The side view of the Picanto is undoubtedly its greatest visual appeal as it gives it a race car appearance. You can see some chrome handles on the doors and under them a line on the entire apron.

The rear view offers a ‘C’ shaped headlight. The bumper features small optics at the ends, and in the middle is the hard plastic, matte-finish license plate holder.

Interior design

The interior of the Kia Picanto has been improved and is more spacious to increase occupant comfort. Most of the conventional controls are eliminated and the systems are now controlled via a seven-inch touchscreen. Also, it is include double airbags for the two front seats.

The Concept finish equips 14-inch steel wheels, height-adjustable driver’s seat, USB audio system, auxiliary input and controls on the steering wheel, Bluetooth, on-board computer, light sensor, front electric windows and air conditioning.

The Concept Pack Comfort trim adds 14-inch alloy trowels, body-colored door handles and mirrors, power mirrors, and power rear windows.

While the GT Line trim adds 15-inch alloy wheels, sporty air intakes, dual exhaust and LED daytime running lights, front fog lights, leather steering wheel and gear lever, aluminum pedals and climate control.

Your Engine

In its mechanical aspect, it will offer three and four cylinder engines of 1.0 and 1.25 liters of displacement, with a maximum power of 67 and 84 hp respectively. Both engines will be associated with a manual gearbox and an automatic transmission as an option in the 84CV engine; all Picanto engines come with gasoline.

How much?

It can be found at approximately 11,650 euros in its Concept finish and 67 hp engine. While in the GT Line edition of the same power it is for 13 100 euros and the 84 hp GT Line are at 13 600 euros for the manual version and 15 050 euros for the automatic.

The Picanto has been, without a doubt, a great success on the part of the South Korean company. The combination of design and compact size have been a public favorite.

After occupying one of the main places among small cars, the Kia Picanto does not stop standing out, and now with its new design, it has captured the eyes of consumers. Therefore, it is one of the most attractive in its segment.
