McLaren MP4-12C
Among Calvin Harris’ garage favorites is a McLaren MP4-12C. This supercar, designed by the British brand McLaren Automotive, is regularly used by the DJ to walk with his partner, the famous singer Taylor Swift.
This vehicle, priced at € 223,110, is one of the best supercars of English manufacture, so it is not surprising that it can be found in the garage of a celebrity like Calvin Harris.
This luxurious model is the result of five years of development by McLaren, and represents the evolution of the P11 prototype. With a model in this category, McLaren intends to dethrone Ferrari.
This direct competition with the Italian brand is already reflected on paper, since, at least in theory, the McLaren MP4-12C comes to surpass the praised Ferrari 458 Italia. This model already has a successor among the Ferrari range, the 488 GTB model.
McLaren MP4-12C design
The development of this supercar started from a blank page. First, the innards of the model were designed, with a carbon fiber chassis and a mid-engine frame. Finally, a fairly understated silhouette was designed, with soft cuts. In this way, the British brand intends to follow the spirit of the McLaren F1.
In its exterior set, the McLaren MP4-12C does not have any particularly groundbreaking detail, without striking aesthetic displays. This is because its design is more oriented not to go out of style.
According to this philosophy, McLaren aims to offer the market a model with the aesthetics expected of a supercar. Of course, without details that today may be attractive, that over time may become obsolete.
Among the details of its design can be found lights with LED technology that are only distinguished by pressing the brake pedal. It also features two prominent tailpipes and optional carbon fiber rear view mirrors.
The propulsion of the McLaren MP4-12C
Beneath the carbon fiber hood of this supercar is a powerful V-shaped eight-cylinder engine. This engine is powered by a twin turbo system, and has a capacity of 3.8 liters of displacement.
This mechanics allows the model to perform at a maximum power of 600 hp, in addition to a torque of 600 Nm reached between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. In short, the McLaren MP4-12C has 30 hp more than the Ferrari 458 Italia.
On the other hand, its mechanics allow acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in an incredible 3.3 seconds. This time can be further shortened by using Corsa tires, which can be cut by a couple of tenths. In addition, once reached 100 km / h, the MP4-12C only takes another 5.5 seconds to reach 200 km / h.
Calvin Harris and his accident at Cadillac
Just a couple of years ago, the famous Scottish DJ was in a car accident while riding another model from his collection. Among Calvin Harris’ cars, it was a Cadillac off-road that was wrecked when it crashed into another vehicle.
The chassis of the Calvin Harris model was exposed at the rear, which shows that it was more than a slight bump. On the other side were the occupants of the other vehicle, a Volkswagen New Beetle considerably smaller than the Cadillac. In that car were a driver and a companion, who was thrown by the force of the impact.
Fortunately, among the consequences of the crash there were no fatalities, although all had to be taken to hospital. Logically, Calvin Harris was forced to cancel the performance that would take place that same night in Ohio, news that he communicated through his Facebook page.
