The bet of the managers of the diamond brand when launching the Renault Scenic in 1995 was simple. It was no longer a question of “forcing” users to adapt their needs to a certain range of cars. The premise since then is that users have the largest number of options on the market.

Renault: a car for every segment

Among the variety of options offered by the company are:

The Renault Twingo to serve the small utility niche. The Renault Clio for the B segment, slightly larger compacts, as well as the Renault Megane for the C stratum.

For those looking for more space and more seats for passengers have the Renault Escape. The Renault Kangoo can carry up to 650 kilograms of cargo in a small van, as well as five or seven passengers.

Right in the middle of this whole range of options is the Renault Scenic. It is essentially a minivan, with smaller dimensions compared to the Renault Escape. However, this is not an impediment to make the most of the cubic meters you have.

Exterior design

The architecture of the Renault Scenic is almost entirely based on the Megane. So much so that between 1995 and 1999 it was known under the name of Megane Scenic. Then, between 1999 and 2009, as Scenic Megane.

However, the different versions of this car have offered variants that go far beyond greater interior space. Even a four-wheel drive off-road model is among the models developed to date.

Its direct rivals in the market are the Citröen C4 Picasso and Xsara Picasso. Also the Ford C-Max, Peugeot 5008 and SEAT Altea.

Just as the Renault Escape inaugurated the minivan segment, the Renault Scenic drove fundamental changes within the automotive industry. The times when users adapted to the options in the dealerships are definitely in the past.

Renault Scenic fourth generation: SUV or minivan?

With the arrival of the fourth generation of this model, Renault designers followed the stylistic line started by another minivan of the brand: the Escape.

The external changes that the car underwent compared to the previous versions, make it look like an SUV. Even now it seems to be more related to the Renault Capture.

Also, in accordance with the latest models of the brand, a large diamond crowning the front of the car stands out in a remarkable way.

Interior design and equipment

The 2017 Renault Scenic offers four trim options : Life , Intens , Zen and Edition One . In all cases, the cars are provided with 20 ”tires.

The equipment from the basic level ( Life ) includes six airbags, USB ports, MP3 audio equipment and Bluetooth connection. Also speed regulator and autonomous emergency braking system when pedestrians are detected.

Finally, the Edition One level has Full LED headlights and a fixed panoramic roof. Additionally, it includes massage mode for the driver’s seat and BOSE audio equipment.

Other equipment options that can be added at the user’s discretion are: assisted parking system or blind spot object detector.

All versions come equipped with the R-Link system, with an 8.7 ”vertical screen.

The options are: 1.2 TCe 115 or 130 hp gasoline engines. Also 1.5 dCi diesel engine with 95 and 110 hp, as well as 1.6 dCi and 130 hp.

For all models a six-speed manual gearbox. For the diesel engine with 110 HP there is the option of a sequential box with double clutch.

Next to leave the market the Renault Scenic Hybrid Assist. It is a hybrid that will have a 110 hp diesel engine, assisted by an electric motor. The goal of this merger is to reduce fossil fuel consumption.
