The Ford Mustang is the iconic two-door, four-seater sports car of the American brand. Its commercialization began in 1964 and has not stopped since then; The Mustang is known as one of the most successful Ford models.

With 54 years of history, the Mustang has lived through six generations, in which its design has undergone multiple changes without losing that essence of an American muscle car . Among its rivals in this segment is, first of all, the Chevrolet Camaro:  its biggest competitor since 1967.

Currently, the sixth generation is marketed, which is the first to reach official dealers in Europe. This introduction of the Ford Mustang to the European market began in 2015, something highly anticipated by fans.

The new Ford Mustang offers the customary two body options in coupe and convertible, with changes to the exterior and mechanics that support its aggressive and elegant design. What stands out the most is in the entrails of the vehicle, which are its new elements such as the gearbox, motorization and its independent rear suspension.

Exterior

On the outside we find its new body, in which the hood and grill are lower, which gives it a more corpulent image. The design includes new LED headlights and bumpers, where we see new air intakes in its lower part. Mustang rides up to 19-inch wheels with 12 new trim ranges to choose from.

The rear is more robust and also comes with LED headlights, a new bumper with an aerodynamic diffuser and dual exhausts. A spoiler can optionally be added to the boot lid to give it a more sporty look.

The design progress of the Ford Mustang continues to be reinvented in the modern era, but  without losing that figure that evokes it as a classic sports car. In addition, the new Mustang, among the 11 colors to customize the body, includes three new shades: Orange Fury Tri-coat, Kona Blue and Royal Crimson with tinted clear coat.

As for the convertible body, the convertible roof is made of electric fabric, and provides a faster and quieter operation than the previous version; it can be opened or closed from the driver’s seat.

Inside

Inside the changes are small compared to the previous model. Ford has used higher quality materials, making surface coatings softer and softer to the touch.

Also, aluminum details are included in the door handles and, optionally, it has a package with pieces covered with a sheet with a carbon fiber look.

This new Mustang features fully digital instrumentation, with more driving assistance devices:  emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active cruise control with distance  alert and involuntary lane departure alert.

In the digital instrument panel you can be customized with three different views and more than 10 colors. For the multimedia system there is an eight-inch screen with SYNC3, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mechanics and Motorization

As is known, the Ford Mustang has always been equipped with engines that make the ground shake, and this time it has two blocks  that will not fail to do this car justice.

First of all, we have a 2.3-liter four-cylinder Ecoboost engine. It has 317 hp of power, which is the most ‘conventional’ engine in the car and is shared with the Ford Focus RS. On the other hand, the Mustang in its GT version, mounts a 5.8-liter V8 with a power of 421 horses.

In this generation of the Mustang, Ford chose to improve all aspects of the vehicle and seeks to break through between the Lexus RC F, the Mercedes Benz C-Class Coupé, the Audi A5 and the BMW 4 Series. It can be assured that the American sports car will be the center of attention, but it will not be easy.
