Seen in profile, the car’s silhouette is difficult to differentiate from that of its predecessor. It maintains the characteristic waist line, created by Walter Da Silva, although now it looks more marked. The behind on the other hand if it shows a greater evolution, taking into account how limited this section is usually in this car segment.

The whole rear has more notable lines and some pilots in which the realistic three-dimensional effect stands out . The effect is achieved in addition to the play of light, with a plastic lampshade that is truly three-dimensional, with very marked reliefs.

Regarding the differences with the S5, it should be noted that these include slightly wider wheel arches, more aggressive grills on the front and a rear diffuser with 4 exhaust outlets, so the overall image is more aggressive.

As for the more modest options, the diesel range is now practically complete, with powers starting at 150hp and reaching 286hp. Meanwhile, the most decaffeinated gasoline will gradually add variants throughout 2018.  Until then, only the 2.0 252hp versions are available except for the 1.4 150hp available in the A5 Sportback, a propellant that will be extended soon. to the rest of the variants.

As usual in the Ingolstadt firm’s models, the A5 is equipped with simple front-wheel drive by default, leaving the Quattro all- wheel drive as an option . The same goes for transmissions, with a 6-speed manual by default. Despite this, the higher versions discard this change in favor of the 7 and 8-speed S-tronic and Tiptronic respectively.

G-tron version

As a novelty, a new version powered by natural gas has been included , which, as in the rest of the range, is known as g-tron. The available mechanics is a 170hp 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder engine with components adapted for its mixed gasoline-natural gas use.

The options available for this version of the A5 are not many, being able to choose exclusively with the front-wheel drive and the 5-door Sportback body. But what is optional is the transmission, manual or automatic S-tronic.
