Dacia Duster Extreme, the best limited edition to date

After presenting the restyling of the second generation of the Dacia Duster at the beginning of the holiday period , the Romanian firm has unveiled what will be the first limited edition of this new version. The economic subsidiary of Renault is very given to it and the new Dacia Duster Extreme continues the tradition that it has been marking for some time.

Since the Duster was introduced in 2010, more than 1.9 million units have been sold. Due to its success, it has annually had a very interesting special edition for the price / equipment ratio. With the present generation (since 2017) we have enjoyed the 15 Years, Xplorer, Trotamundos and many more editions.

An annual version in a low-cost car leaves little room for differentiation. Even so, the new Dacia Duster Extreme is running perhaps as the best limited edition so far. The aesthetic changes introduced and the complete standard equipment make it the finish to buy once it goes on sale in early 2022.

Aesthetic changes to the Dacia Duster Extreme

Visually, the Extreme finish of the Dacia Duster differs from the rest with numerous orange accents. The new tints can be found on the front grille, the mirrors, the roof bars and in the model nomenclature in the trunk.

The orange color contrasts with the glossy black used on the main grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and mirror caps. The tinted rear windows help to improve the image, increasing the sense of quality perceived from the outside.

The model can be ordered with 5 colors common to the rest of the range, such as Glacier White, Pearl Black, Comet Gray, Iron Blue and Arizona Orange. However, the most interesting option is the Urban Gray in the images, which will be limited to this edition and once its production is finished, it cannot be ordered from any Duster.

In 2021, the Dacia Duster has been updated upon reaching the middle of its life cycle. Notable changes include front and rear LED optics, new grille lattice and a more aerodynamic rear spoiler . All these changes are also visible in the Extreme version.

Interior and equipment

Internally, the cabin replicates the exterior theme with orange inserts on air vents, door panels, center console and all seams. It is also distinguished from the rest of the range by the upholstery of the seats: while the Duster can be equipped with cloth or leather seats, the Duster Extreme uses a mixed upholstery, with the center section of the seat in cloth and the challenge in black leather.

By using the Prestige finish (top of the range) as a starting point, the standard equipment is the most complete. Among other things, we find the Media Nav infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, automatic climate control, central glove box, cruise control and 4 electric windows, among other elements.

The Media Nav is the evolution of the basic Media Display. Unlike the simplified equipment, this adds the functions of navigation and WiFi access point to the well-known integration for smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wirelessly in this case.

Mechanical offer

As betrayed by the 4WD emblems on the front wings, the Dacia Duster Extreme has the all-wheel drive system. This means that it will mount the 115 hp 1.5 dCi diesel block under the hood. Instead, you can also opt for the more powerful 1.3 TCe gasoline and 150 hp. In addition, this last variant involves the use of the 6-speed automatic transmission.

As usual, the Dacia Duster 4WD improves its dimensions with respect to the 2WD to offer better guarantees when tackling difficult terrain. With greater ground clearance (214 millimeters), it offers better off-road angles: 30º of attack, 21º ventral and 34º of exit.
