Nissan X-Trail

Since the beginning of the 21st century , the Nissan X-Trail has been the strong and stand-out bet among the Nippon Sangyo off-road-touring crossovers.

It came to face the dominance that models such as the Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape or Hyundai Tuscon maintained in the segment.

At the time of its launch, times were difficult, as the Asian crisis of the late 1990s had left many companies on the brink of bankruptcy, including the auto company itself.

Luckily, the arrival of this SUV was a balm. Initial sales were so high that the company recovered its healthy financial condition,  well before the time that had been stipulated.

Nissan X-Trail: luxury and comfort

The 2017 version of this ‘family off-road’, does not skimp on luxuries. On the outside it adopts the now traditional metallic ‘V’ of the front grill, crowned with the company logo. In addition, all the front and rear optics are Full LED.

18 ”or 19” alloy wheels, depending on the version, chrome side steps and mirrors that fold automatically. These are just some of the details that distinguish this Nissan model from the outside.

In the interior section, its spaciousness stands out. The space it offers is one of the most cutting-edge among cars with its characteristics. Those who occupy the positions of the co-pilot or of the three seats in the second row, may even cross their legs without much difficulty.

For the transport of luggage and goods, the seven-seater version offers up to 455 liters of capacity with the third row folded down, but only 135 liters with all the seats deployed.

The space of the five-seat model is 550 liters. In both cases, with all the seats folded down, the capacity rises to 1,615 liters.

One of the most distinguished aspects of the X-Trail 2017 is its panoramic roof. All passengers on board, including third row occupants, will be able to enjoy a wide range of vision.

Engines

Three motorization options are available from dealers :

• 6 DIG-T of 163 Horsepower, gasoline, 4 × 4 and 6-speed manual transmission.
• 6 dCi of 128 Horsepower, diesel, 4 × 2, with 6-speed manual transmission or X-TRONIC automatic transmission. There is also a 4 × 4 option with a 6-speed manual transmission.
• 6 dCi of 177 Horsepower, diesel, 4 × 2, with X-TRONIC automatic transmission. Likewise, this machine has the 4 × 4 option with the possibility of manual or automatic transmission.

Path to full autonomous driving

Users are provided with a vehicle that has the ability to control acceleration. Also braking and steering, as well as the ability to maintain a sustained speed. It can even come to a complete stop in heavy traffic and resume speed as the road clears.

The X-Trail also comes equipped with parking aid, with hardly any need for human intervention. Thanks to its powerful 360 ° Vision system, drivers will only have to place the vehicle next to the space where they want to park. The rest of the maneuver is the responsibility of the car.

Versions and equipment

The equipment options, systems and accessories available to the Nissan X-Trail are of the highest range. From the most discreet version to the top model, no one is indifferent to the performance of a luxurious car without any fuss.

• X Trail Acenta. The ‘basic’ option has, among other things, dual-zone air conditioning, automatically activated headlights and a rain sensor. Likewise, front and rear parking sensors.

• X-Trail N-CONNECTS. The intermediate version adds the Nissan Intelligent Protection Shield. This includes lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition systems. Also frontal anti-collision system, pedestrian recognition and blind spot control, among others.
• X-Trail Tekna. To all of the above, the top-of-the-range model adds the BOSE audio system with 8 speakers. In addition, it is equipped with driver fatigue detection, as well as leather-trimmed, electrically adjustable and memory seats.
