With more than a decade behind it, the Abarth 500 continues to be profitable and the brand does not stop launching new editions. The latest is the Abarth F595, a variant closely related to Formula 4 and which commemorates 50 years of the first season of Formula Italy.

Another remarkable date that also occurred 50 years ago is the association of Abarth and Fiat, as it was in 1971 when the first became part of the old Fiat Group. In Spanish dealerships the Abarth F595 can already be purchased from 26,050 euros without applied promotions: without a doubt, the thing is about commemorations.

New Record Monza

The biggest novelty of the Abarth F595, which sets it apart from any previous alternative, is the new exhaust system. In the classic Abarth structure, this device usually has a double or quadruple exhaust outlet in a traditional configuration, but the new model has a Record Monza Sovrapposto exhaust.

Even with 4 individual exhaust outlets, these are now mounted vertically in pairs, one above the other and in a very stylized way. This configuration adds aggressiveness to the whole and at the same time is reminiscent of the sportier models in the Lexus range.

This brand new exhaust improves the sound of the engine and its response, as it is now more direct thanks to the improvement of the exhaust airflow of the turbocharged engine. In addition, it has an active valve that starts with Sport mode (Scorpion mode), with which the exhaust sound is increased.

Abarth Tourism

As a basis, an Abarth 595 Turismo has been taken, the second model in the range above the access model, also known as “the 595 just”. Therefore, it exhibits a complete sports body kit consisting of front bumpers, side skirts, rear bumper and rear spoiler. The standard 17-inch wheels are painted matte black.

It is the Rally blue details that differentiate the F595 from any other Turismo, as it is presented to the market with brushstrokes on the splitter , diffuser and the mirror caps. To finish off the aesthetic changes, this model sports new identifying logos.

For its part, the cabin has a matte black finish for the dashboard, as well as the touch screen, in order to avoid unwanted glare. This monitor belongs to the previous generation of Fiat’s infotainment system, which translates into a 7-inch screen and compatibility with Apple CaPlay and Android Auto.

Abarth F595 performance

What is the relationship between a Formula 4 and the Abarth F595? The most important thing: the heart. Both share a propeller, the well-known 1.4 MultiAir Turbo which, in the case of this Turismo version, develops 165 hp of power and 230 Nm of torque. It is a very brave engine, capable of delivering maximum torque from just 2250 revolutions.

As it is a new model, Abarth claims to have worked on its fine-tuning in order to comply with the most recent Euro 6d-Final anti-pollution regulations. According to the tests carried out, these adjustments and the new Record Monza exhaust are enough to improve recoveries.

In gross figures, this translates into a recovery of 80-120 km / h in fifth in 7.8 seconds, while the 0-100 km / h does it in 7.3 seconds, always with manual gearbox. Optionally, there is the possibility of a 5-speed automatic transmission and paddles behind the wheel. It is nothing more than a robotic manual, so its operation is not the most effective.

As in the rest of the 595 Turismo, the model has an Abarth brake system with 284-millimeter discs on the front axle and 240 millimeters on the rear. It also mounts rear suspension with frequency-selective Koni shock absorbers.
