The Mito is the smallest of the models in the Alfa Romeo range, but this does not mean that it reduces the essence of the brand in terms of design and sportiness.

The Alfa Romeo Mito is a B-segment car produced since 2008 by the Fiat Group subsidiary, Alfa Romeo. This car competes against the Mini and Audi A1 models belonging to the same segment. It was presented at the Sforzesco Castle. It should be noted that  the first car with the Alfa DNA, TCT and MultiAir system.

Design

The design of this car was the responsibility of Argentine Juan Manuel Díaz and shares certain attributes of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. On the front we can see the iconic ‘V’ shield on the hood, which divides the grille from the bumper. Its headlights come from the 8C Competizione, similar to the Giulietta.

On the back, it has a simple design, but it does not lose the beauty of this car. Its headlights are round and the color of the bumper is black, it has two optics and a single exhaust. With respect to the interior design, the steering wheel features a center in ‘V’ to match the hood.

In addition, it adds a series of buttons, for certain functions of the car. The air conditioning outlets are round, and its central button panel includes the air conditioning control, the sound system and the emergency lights button.

The gauges comprise four analog and one digital meter for other functions of the car. Also, depending on the trim level you choose, you can take a BOSE stereo, CONNECT radio navigator and Blue & Me or Blue & Me TomTom.

Security

The safety equipment offered by the Alfa Romeo MiTo makes it a fairly reliable and popular car. It mounts four-piston front brakes, anti-lock wheel system, stability control, traction control, MSR system, Electronic Q2 electronic self-locking differential system and Alfa DNA.

Motorization

Since its debut, the Mito has offered a great variety in its engines, all of them with front-wheel drive and manual transmission except for the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo TCT. All comply with the EURO 5 standard. The current models of the Myth are:

  • A 0.9 TwinAir 8-valve gasoline, 85 hp and 105 hp Turbo version.
  • The 1.4 FIRE 8-valve gasoline, 70, 78 and 95 hp.
  • Another 1.4 MultiAir gasoline 105 hp.
  • The 1.4 Turbo petrol with 120 and 155 hp.
  • The 1.4 MultiAir Turbo petrol with 135 hp (also a Turbo TCT) and 170 hp.
  • Another 1.4 Turbo and LPG (gasoline and gas combustion) with 120 hp
  • A 1.3 JTDm diesel with 85, 90 and 95 hp
  • And a 1.6 JTDma diesel 120 hp.

Versions of the Alfa Romeo MiTo

Such is the popularity since the launch of this car, that several special editions were produced such as the Myth RIAR. 46 units were launched to commemorate the 46th anniversary of Alfa Romeo ; It had a 1.4 Turbo engine at 170CV of power.

The Alfa Romeo Mito Azurro is an exclusive version of Germany and incorporates a 1.4 engine with 120 hp. The Quadrifoglio Verde version was a limited edition of 50 units with two color combinations, red with a black roof and white with a black roof.

Another limited edition was the Maseratti Mito that had 100 units. It has a 170 hp 1.4 TB MultiAir engine, CONNECT navigator with Blue & Me, and Poltrona Frau leather seats.

The Veloce is another version of the Alfa Romeo Mito that has a 1.4 MultiAir turbo gasoline engine with 170 hp; acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is just 7.3 seconds.

As equipment, it comes with TCT dual clutch and is configurable to include Uconnect Live 5 ”radio with digital radio system, heated front seats with lumbar adjustment, 60/40 folding rear seat with third head restraint.

The fastest Myth

The Myth GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita) was presented at the motor show in Geneva. This car will have a 1.8-liter TBi engine with a power of 240 hp, making it the fastest of the Alfa Romeo Mito versions and at the same time the fastest of the B-Segment cars.

Its maximum speed marks 250 Kmph and its acceleration from 0-100 is 5.5 seconds. Unfortunately, this project is not in progress as this car is for a very specific audience. Its development is expected to continue when the ‘crisis’ stops affecting the automotive sector.

Alfa Romeo’s best option

It all depends on the tastes and needs. The Alfa Romeo Mito can certainly meet these demands. Its safety, performance, and wide range of engines fit everything.
