Vanquish Zagato

The Vanquish Zagato is further proof of the great evolution that the luxurious British firm is undergoing. After a decade of financial losses, and with a fleet crying out for a facelift, Aston Martin has made a U-turn and is bringing true works of art to the market.

After the success of the recently launched Vantage 2018, which has exceeded all sales expectations, the brand surprises us with a new and exclusive model that comes to delight the most demanding and exclusive public.

The Aston Martin Zagato has been jointly developed between the Zagato brand and Aston Martin, and is available with four different bodies: Coupe, Volante, Speedster and Shooting Brake.

All of them have a body made of carbon fiber and with two seats, except the Coupe and Volante versions that have a 2 + 2 configuration.

Revolutionary aesthetics

In addition to the usual Coupe and Volante versions that Aston Martin is used to in other models, the Vanquish Zagato brings with it two new innovative options:

  • Vanquish Shooting Brake : With only 99 units on sale, this version has a peculiar silhouette, similar to that of the Ferrari GTC4Lusso, with a very long roof line that reaches the rear of the car. The advantage? You have a real sports car but with a plus of practicality.

In addition, the brand offers a set of tailor-made suitcases to make the most of the dimensions of the trunk. Its arrival on the market will be the last to land of the four, at the beginning of 2018, according to the brand.

  • Vanquish Speedster : it is the most exclusive and radical model of the British brand, where luxury, sportiness and exclusivity have been oversized, something similar to what happens with its price.

The front of the Speedster is more conservative than other parts of the car and more reminiscent of other cars of the brand. This model delivers all its charisma in the lateral silhouette and the rear, where it will be difficult for you to guess that it is an Aston Martin if you have never seen it before, especially at the rear, where it debuts some spectacular new round drivers.

The interior design is much more conservative. It releases most of the components and now it looks much more modern, but the general shapes are very similar to those of the interiors of other less current models of the brand. The quality obviously borders on the outstanding.

Known engine

To give all this English beauty the power it deserves, Aston Martin has chosen not to take risks and equip the Vanquish Zagato with an entire 6.0-liter V12 that delivers 600 hp. It is the same one used by the Vanquish S, a guarantee of success.

With such an arsenal, the Vanquish Zagato accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds and is capable of reaching a top speed of 300 km / h.

It has an eight-speed automatic gearbox called Touchtronic III, developed by transmission specialist ZF. Power reaches the ground through the rear wheels and the suspension has electronically controlled dampers adjusted specifically for each body variant, as the weights and distribution of these changes from one to another.

The price of exclusivity

The total production of the Vanquish Zagato will consist of  325 units: 99 with the Coupe configuration, 99 Steering wheels, 99 Shooting Brakes and 28 Speedsters.

The price in supercars is usually marked by their level of exclusivity, and in that  the Vanquish Zagato Speedster takes the cake.  With its very limited number of units available, the starting price is no less than 1.5 million euros.

This figure places this Briton in a very different league than the one the brand usually plays; It is the price that the Bugatti Veyron cost  and, English friends, you have to offer something more to justify that amount.

Being sold they are going to be sold, there is no doubt, since it is collector’s meat, but the comparisons are very bad and, with the book in hand, the Bugatti is three steps above.
