As happens in all families, there always has to be someone who stands out from the rest, and at Bugatti that is the new Bugatti Divo, the most radical vision of the Chiron that it takes as its base. That’s right, a car even more extreme than the Chiron is possible, and despite its power, it is more focused on luxury. The Divo? Best for circuit.

With unrivaled aerodynamic workmanship that dramatically influences the exterior design and an industry-unique engine, the new Bugatti Divo is poised to compete against the motorsport elite. Without further ado, let’s see what this high-flying sports car offers us at a prohibitive price.

Function over form

There is no better expression to define what Bugatti has done to the exterior of the Divo than function over form. Starting with a Chiron, they have revamped the entire carbon body with more sculpted and aggressive panels. In short, more prepared to direct the flow of air.

Precisely the air has been very influential in the design of the Divo, with numerous air intakes, the result of a completely renewed and optimized cooling system. Proof of this is the front grill, larger than usual and accompanied by generous openings on both sides.

To send the air directly to the rear wing, a small shark fin was placed on the engine hood, very much in the style of the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE, which in turn borrowed this idea from Formula 1. For its part, the rear launches optical groups, diffuser and final exhaust section.

Cabin

Unfortunately, all the spectacularity seen on the outside is diluted once we access its coveted interior. It maintains all the comforts seen in the original Chiron, although lighter and sportier-cut seats have been introduced and much of the door trims have been removed.

specs

The Bugatti Divo has been put on a weight loss diet with which it has lost 35 kilos compared to the conventional Bugatti Chiron, although the considerable increase in downforce mitigates this at least in a straight line, where the Divo is limited to 380 km / h. h. On curvy roads it is another story.

Bugatti speaks of an improvement of 8 seconds per lap on the Nardo circuit, an advantage that is obtained from these changes since under the hood everything remains as it was. That there are no mechanical changes is not a negative, it is simply that the base was extremely capable to enhance it.

Like its brother the Chiron, it has a unique engine in the industry. We are talking about a W16 engine with 8 liters of displacement with four turbos (Quad-Turbo). It achieves the magical figure of 1,500 horsepower and a wild torque of 1,600 Nm.

For its part, the seven-speed automatic transmission and the all-wheel drive system with torque vector control do not come from the Bugatti Chiron ‘just’, but from the Bugatti Chiron Sport, more focused on track use but without reaching excesses of the Bugatti Divo.

Price

When the final appearance of the Bugatti Divo was still unknown and its focus was not clear, the brand itself confirmed a price of 5 million euros for each unit. To make matters worse, the total production of 40 units was already sold since the first details of the car were known some time ago.

Applying a simple multiplication we have an amount of 200 billion euros left directly for Bugatti, without subtracting the production costs of each car. The question that arises now is, does the Bugatti Divo offer enough to pay more than double that for a regular Bugatti Chiron? For 40 people it seems that way.
