Honda Civic Sedan: The Latest Version Of The Japanese Classic

Since its launch in the 70s, the Honda Civic has been the quintessential model of the Japanese manufacturer. It has a multitude of variants, such as the Civic Sport, the Civic Shuttle, which became the Honda Orthia, the aggressive and striking Civic Type-R or the Civic Sedan.

This vehicle put Honda on the map of the world car market, effectively competing with the gigantic General Motors.

The small utility that was in its beginnings has been renewed until a tenth generation. The one launched on the market in 2017, shows  a version of the Civic very different from the previous ones.

Sportier exterior styling for the Civic sedan

The exterior of the Honda Civic sedan has been remodeled to a sportier variant. The lines are smoother, and the overall shape is lower, wider, and longer.

The Honda CONNECT system is launched into a second generation, allowing easier and more intuitive connectivity with Android or Apple devices.

The improvement in the quality of the materials can be seen throughout the cabin. It is worth highlighting the incorporation of an LCD screen that acts as an interface and technology center for the vehicle.

A development taken care of to the maximum

Honda claims that development of the new Civic Sedan has been the most thorough and thorough yet. The driving sensation is improved by getting behind the wheel of a sportier model with a lower height.

The suspension is redesigned to improve handling and riding comfort, with a perfect balance between dynamic and comfortable driving.

In addition, the built-in noise and vibration control system increases user comfort. The weight of the vehicle is reduced by 16 kg compared to the previous version.

Perfect fusion of efficiency and power in the Civic sedan

The new Civic sedan’s engine achieves 182 hp at 5,500 rpm, with a maximum torque of 240 Nm between 1,900 and 5,500 rpm.

On the other hand, the vehicle incorporates a 6-speed manual gearbox mode. With this, it achieves an agile and efficient gear change, increasing the sporty feeling.

It can also be configured with a CVT variable transmission automatic gearbox. Despite allowing a more comfortable, smooth and relaxing drive, it diminishes the quality of the vehicle’s performance.

Average consumption is around 5.8 liters per one hundred kilometers, a low and attractive value for the customer. For this, the Earth Dreams Technology system has been incorporated , which also reduces emissions.

Honda prioritizes safety again

Again, Honda’s safety philosophy prevails in its designs, with the 2017 Civic sedan being one of the safest in its class.

It incorporates a complete package of security systems called Honda Sensing . It has an impact prevention system, frontal collision warning, signal recognition or lane maintenance system.

Also included is an involuntary lane departure warning with acoustic and visual signals. The speed limiter is combined with the aforementioned signal recognition system to adjust the speed of the vehicle to the limit of the road.

In addition, the renewed chassis offers robustness and resistance in the event of a collision. And in addition to safety, we must not forget the ergonomics of the steering wheel and seats, which make it easy to stay focused on driving.

The keys to the 2017 Civic sedan

Ultimately, the new Civic sedan sits on a completely new platform, with the largest model in its history.

The new design achieves a more aggressive appearance with a larger cabin.
