Kia Ceed 2022, Restyling Of The Best-selling Kia In Europe
Kia continues to update its range with the introduction of new generations and facelifts of the most recent models that have already reached the middle of their commercial cycle. Within this second group is the Kia Ceed 2022, the best-known compact of the Korean brand and, in turn, the best-selling Kia in Europe.
This update will affect the 5-door bodies, the station wagon and the Proceed coupe. For its part, the XCeed SUV, the latest to join the range, will continue its own cycle and will receive its relevant update soon. For now, the XCeed will continue to drive the growth in demand for the Ceed.
Aesthetic news
Since its arrival on the market in 2018, the Kia Ceed was one of the most attractive alternatives, especially in the GT trim. With the update that concerns us here, aesthetic changes have been made that focus mostly on the frontal area. Altogether, the novelties give a more aggressive face to the Korean compact.
The new optics maintain the shape, but change their LED graphics for 3 vertical slats at the front and a honeycomb pattern with 48 LEDs on the taillights. The grille tapers at its ends, as do the bumper shapes, which now show larger air intakes.
With these changes the image of the range is unified, reducing the differences between the sportier versions and the rest. Now, the GT will be distinguished from its close models by details in red distributed on the front, side and rear. It should be noted that the wheels, available in 16, 17 and 18 inches, have a new design. Finally, the Ceed 2022 shows the new logo of the brand.
Technological update of the Kia Ceed 2022
Once we enter the cabin, we can see that the changes here are more technological than physical. On the outside, the model just debuts new upholstery and finishes (such as perforated leather for the change) or red stitching in the GT versions. The aim of these changes is to improve a perceived quality that was already high.
Technologically, the vehicle debuts 12.3-inch digital instrumentation, accompanied by a 10.25-inch touch screen for the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Another novelty is the advanced blind spot control with assistance.
First, this system alerts the driver, and if the risk of collision remains, it can partially take control of the car. The occupant exit warning is very useful and alerts the traffic when opening the doors. Finally, the rear cross traffic control, in addition to alerting, can stop the vehicle if necessary.
Diesel, gasoline and hybrid
Concluding with the mechanical section, the Kia Ceed 2022 remains one of the compacts with the greatest variety of options. First of all, we find simple diesel and gasoline versions, which can be associated with a 48V micro-hybrid system. In these cases, the ECO environmental labels of the DGT are obtained.
In the diesel range there is only the 1.6 CRDi of 136 hp with and without microhybridization. For its part, the gasoline options are greater, with the 1.0 T-GDi of 100 and 120 hp, the 1.5 T-GDi of 160 hp and the 1.6 T-GDi of 204 hp, which exclusively mounts the Ceed GT. For its part, only the 120 and 160 CV versions can be associated with microhybridization.
In addition, the PHEV plug-in hybrid variant will continue to be offered, which homologates 141 hp of combined power. With a battery of 8.9 kWh capacity, the autonomy in 100% electric mode reports 50 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. With this electrical range, in Spain it meets the requirements to have the Zero label of the DGT.
