Peugeot 308 5 Doors
On the market since 2014, the second generation of this car from the C segment of the carmaker del león has only garnered praise. The five-door Peugeot 308 received 5 stars from Euro NCAP in crash tests. It was also voted Car of the Year in Europe at the time, relegating the second and third positions to the BMW i3 and the Telsa Model S, respectively.
Currently it must face stiff competition from cars such as the Ford Focus or Mazda 3. The Opel Astra, Renault Megane and Seat Leon are also included among its rivals.
Mechanics and motors
At the moment, the five-door hatchback has four engine options to choose from:
Diesel
- 6-liter capacity, BlueHDi, with a power of 100 or 120 Horsepower.
- 0 liter capacity, Blue HDi, with power of 150 or 180 Horsepower.
Gasoline
- 2 liter capacity, Puretech, with power of 110 or 130 Horsepower.
- 6-liter capacity, THD, with a power of 206 or 272 Horsepower.
The last option is the machine that moves the 308 known as the GTi, the most sporty model of the entire line.
The engines are associated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Along with the more powerful diesel engine (180 hp), an 8-speed automatic transmission called EAT8 can work.
Design
The second-generation Peugeot 308 5-door does not present major changes in its exterior design, nor in its internal layout. Its dimensions remain unchanged compared to the previous version: 4.25 m long x 1.81 m wide. The trunk loading capacity does not offer novelties either: 420 liters.
On the outside, the only change that stands out is a new vertical grille, crowned with the company’s lion emblem in the middle. There have also been updates to the headlight system, the front bumper, the hood and the lighting equipment.

Pleasant and assisted driving
The Peugeot 308 5-door also offers assistance systems for a complete and quiet driving experience.
One of these is the involuntary lane departure alert which, unlike other models, returns the vehicle to its original route, while locking the steering wheel. However, it is not intended for the driver to let go of the wheel, as it will disconnect if the hands are not on the wheel for more than 15 seconds.
Likewise, it offers a traffic signal detector, although it is not capable of stopping the car automatically.
Another novelty present in the current range of this five-seater passenger car is the active cruise control. This system does act autonomously on the brakes in order to maintain the distance with the car in front.
