Porsche 911 by Singer

The well-known Porsche 911 has behind it a trail of fans of its history who lament each innovation that is released in each new version of the German sports car. Over the years an idea that was thought to be wrong has been refined, but purists prefer classic models to current ones.

Fortunately, a small Californian company has found the solution by restoring and improving old Porsche 911s, to turn them into collectibles made to measure for each customer. Each new car is signed as Porsche 911 by Singer and has a unique name.

An example of this can be seen thanks to the good work of Petrolicious. At the end of 2017 they did a report with a Porsche 911 prepared by Singer which was nicknamed The Indiana Car . It is a 100% recommended video, although it makes you want to get hold of one of these machines.

What is Singer?

Singer Vehicle Design is a small company based in Los Angeles, California, founded by Rob Dickinson in 2009. Officially, the company’s commercial journey began in 2010 with the creation of the first units that placed the brand on the collector’s map. and from Porsche 911 fans.

They take it upon themselves to create a high-quality, engineering masterpiece based on the third generation 911, known as the 964 code. The work can start with a unit delivered by the client, although they offer the possibility of even taking care of the search for a donor unit.

Among the most significant changes to Singer’s creations is new bodywork, hand-sculpted from carbon fiber in painstaking work of more than 3,000 hours. In addition, the treatment they give him down to the smallest detail is frightening: it borders on the unhealthy.

How much do your creations cost?

Let’s start with the painful. Each Porsche 911 by Singer has a starting price of around 300,000 euros,  and some units can reach a final price of around 800,000 euros. However, those cars that have been through auctions have easily surpassed 1 million euros.

Be that as it may, the final price has never been communicated, neither by the company nor by one of the lucky ones with the capacity to order their own. What is easy to recognize is that the figures are highly variable, depending on the state of the donor car and the equipment selected.

This last aspect is impressive. Singer offers its customers a wide range of possibilities, including various mechanical options, materials, equipment, etc. There is no doubt that once they leave the manufacturing process, no two are alike.

Large doses of customization

There are a total of three mechanics available, all in a six-cylinder boxer configuration . First up is the 3.8-liter, available with 300 and 350 hp. The latter includes improvements in the intake, pistons and even in the injection, in addition to being signed by an expert in the field such as Cosworth.

These powertrains are matched with a five-speed G50 or six-speed G50 / LSD manual transmission for those more focused on track use. If you choose all-wheel drive, you can only choose the second option.

With high doses of power and such a light weight, you need a good brake kit capable of stopping the car in a few meters. First, Singer installs the braking system of the Porsche 911 Turbo (993), leaving the carbon-ceramic discs at the option of the buyer.

In 2017 Singer announced their new collaboration with Williams Technology, with whom they will develop a new series of high-performance thrusters.
