The Abarth 595: from the most practical to the most radical version

The Abarth 595 is the evolution of the Abarth 500. This new model incorporates more powerful engines and more extensive standard equipment. This compact and agile vehicle is found in four different versions.

Abarth 595 standard

The entry-level model is the starting point for a unique and customizable vehicle at an affordable price. It is the ideal variant for those who want to enjoy driving in a simple car.

The engine is a 1.4 ‘T-Jet’ with 145 hp, with a 5-speed gearbox. It incorporates a self-locking differential that gives the vehicle exceptional performance. This technology exploits the full potential and increases traction in extreme conditions.

In addition, the Abarth 595 has a Sport button to change the parameters of the vehicle. It allows you to control maximum torque and calibrate the power steering for a more direct driving feel.

Abarth 595 Track: the young version

The variant immediately superior to the standard Abarth 595 is the Pista, which incorporates an engine similar to the first, but with 165 hp.

This option caters to younger customers, focusing on power, maneuverability, sound and entertainment. In addition, it is available in a saloon and convertible version. The bodywork is available in five colors: Campovolo Gray, Record Gray , Gara White , Abarth Red and Scorpione Black .

Inside, the Abarth sports seats stand out, with height adjustment and optional black leather. In addition, it incorporates the UConnectTM entertainment system with a 7 ″ touch screen, DAB radio, 6 speakers, and Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

The distinction of this model is seen in the plate ‘595 Pista’ with a titanium finish on the back, adding a touch of exclusivity and design to its image.

Abarth 595 Turismo: more sporty character

This Turismo version increases the power of the 1.4 ‘T-Jet’ engine to 160 hp compared to the standard version of 145 hp. Its weight allows a relatively low consumption, 6.5 liters per 100 km, which increases slightly in city driving.

Acceleration makes it possible to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds, and the car immerses the driver in the sensation of being on a starting grid when leaving each traffic light.

It mounts FSD Koni shocks, which greatly improve the sporty handling, although perhaps too hard for the tastes of some customers.

Although the Abarth 595 Turismo is not lacking in safety, the brakes can slightly unstable the trajectory during the harshest stops.

As for the exterior aesthetics, the differences are minimal compared to the other variants. It incorporates some attractive 17-inch multi-spoke wheels, and the possibility of choosing two-color paint and the tank cap in steel.

Inside you will find very comfortable leather seats, although without height adjustment. The steering wheel feels quite thick, although it is not uncomfortable to handle. The pedals and floor mats are version specific, displaying the Abarth symbol.

In addition, the gear lever is replaced by a 5-speed automatic transmission, which works from buttons. Although at first glance it is strange, its handling is simple.

Under normal conditions, it behaves like a normal automatic gearbox, but can be switched to manual mode, controlling the gears with paddles placed on the steering wheel. In short, this version offers a ‘tuned’ Abarth 500, providing a sportier version than the previous ones.

Abarth 595 Competizione: the most explosive urban

The Competizione is the most radical variant of the Abarth 595. It is offered in yellow, with 17 ″ wheels and black side vinyl.

The exterior aesthetics are clearly different from the other 595 models, with black bumpers on both the front and the rear. In addition, the new exhaust system generates a roar that can be addictive, resembling that of some Ferraris.

The problem with the Abarth 595 Competizione is that it is not a practical model. Its trunk is limited to 185 liters, and the rear seats are uncomfortable for adult passengers. The pilot’s position is quite high, and the steering wheel cannot be adjusted in height. Also, the seats are quite stiff and upright.

We consider the absence of the speed controller as a defect . Although it will not be necessary for those looking for a fully sporty driving, its absence can end up tiring the pilot.

It is clear that this is a sporty model, which is not intended to be comfortable for quiet driving in the city or for long journeys. If you are looking for a simple and practical utility vehicle, it is best to opt for the first options and leave aside this little sports car.
